One may remember that after the hip replacement recall happened, the ultimate action would be to compare it to past medical problems and product recalls. However, when we really think about it, comparisons do not help at all. It does not do anything positive on a very negative situation. One must find out the extent of the situation in order to do more useful things rather than get stuck comparing. So, this leads us to the fact that we should be thankful whenever medical experts say things straightforward as possible.
Straightforward has been the system used by Dr. Thomas Joyce from Newcastle University when he said, It is the biggest disaster in the history of orthopedics. To think here we are in the 21st century, in 2011, that we have such major failures. This has major implications around the world.” And this has been explained by Dr. Joyce on people who were affected and suffering.
One of the reasons why this recall was condemned is due to the fact that it created a disaster as almost half of the 93, 000 patients suffered from complications. In fact, a lot of them have to undergo a revision surgery in order to fix the failing of their hip prosthetic device.
This DePuy recall has been condemned by a lot of medical experts which is to say that people who have filed for a lawsuit against its manufacturer should stick to what their lawyers would tell them and not get swayed on the manufacturer’s promise of giving “reasonable and customary” costs.
